This weekend I got to do two extraordinary things: see an epic concert and perform on stage. These two things are rare treasures and I'm so thrilled that they both happened in one weekend. I'm still glowing! Click HERE for more performance pics.
p.s. Opeth is an amazing band. Buy their new album "Sorceress"--'tis awesome. I LOVE this picture because it looks like I'm levitating! Well, all these "throwback thursday" pictures on Instagram has put me in a nostalgic mood. I decided to publish all the pictures from my one and only time performing at Tribal Fest. I really had fun on stage and the photographer got some great shots of my snarky expressions. I knew I was only going to do it once so I decided to make it memorable. I think belly dancing to Pantera is memorable. Tribal Fest 2009 A little inspiration for all my lovely dancing brothers and sisters out there. Keep going, keep breathing, keep dancing!
I am totally serving Diana Ross and the Supremes realness in this picture. Stop! In the name of love! YAAASSS!
I hope everyone is healthy and happy. Last spring I went down to Los Angeles for an amazing photo shoot and now the pictures are ready for your viewing pleasure. SO many new pics! Check them out here. Also, I just got the confirmation: I will be performing this year at Waking Persephone! I am so excited! Any excuse to visit Seattle, which is definitely my home away from home. September will be spent fleshing out performance choreography and tons of practice. Practice practice practice. I was working hard in the studio and my partner in crime snapped some shots of me. My tribal ballet workshop was well received and I am feeling gratitude and happiness wash all over me, like the ocean washes the sand. Springtime is just beginning, and I'm hoping this will be the year I make a dreamy, fantasy filled dance video, in a special spot in San Francisco. And if I really get my butt in gear, mayhaps I will send it in to TDFF or SFDFF. Now that my workshop is over, this will be my next big dance/art project!
Ahh, the great Tamara Karsavina and the ethereal Dame Margot Fonteyn. I've lived with this picture since I was a little girl--it speaks volumes to me. I just had to re-create it with my dancing pal, Jericha. The older generation sharing the knowledge with the up and coming generation. Such a moment of intimacy and bonding in the dance studio.
So far, this summer has been fantastic! I found a new studio where I can practice and teach, and I'm creating new dances based on my original faery tales (when I'm not a librarian or a belly dancer, I'm a writer). These pictures are from the latest email newsletter from Melodia Designs. She is FABULOUS and I've been wearing her stuff for years. She was kind enough to publish my pictures-truly an honor!!
Springtime in Pacifica is absolutely stunning. It's the perfect time and place for a photo shoot! Here I am with the beautiful Sequoia Emmanuelle and we shot some epic, panorama photos on the cliff near my house. Pictures will be posted soon! Until then, please check out my new instagram account, I plan to update it frequently.
