The Gods have meant That I should dance
And in some mystic hour I shall move to unheard rhythms
Of the cosmic orchestra of heaven
And you will know the language Of my wordless poems
And will come to me
For that is why I dance.

Amber Slemmer has been dancing since the tender age of 3. Her childhood was spent studying classical ballet (Vaganova method) and "Broadway style" tap at the Judith Aaen Academy of Dance in Southern California. A foot injury forced her to leave the world of ballet and eventually she gravitated toward the beauty and sensuality of Raqs Sharqi (Oriental dance). In 2006 she was deeply inspired by The Indigo (belly dance troupe), and immediately began an intense journey into the study of belly dance. She has studied with several luminaries such as Rachel Brice, Zoe Jakes, Mardi Love, Carolena Nericcio, Frederique, Freyja, and Oreet (Bellydancer of the Year 2007). In 2012, Amber was cast as a belly dance soloist in World Dance Fusion's production 'The Jewish Nutcracker'. Dancing the 'Arabian' solo to the music of Tchaikovsky was a childhood dream come true, and a milestone in her journey from an injured ballet dancer to a tribal fusion belly dance soloist.
Amber specializes in tribal fusion, a descendant of American Tribal Style (ATS). She is a soloist, choreographer, and instructor. Her dance artistry is a unique combination of the following:
Amber is an "artistic athlete" and weaves this philosophy into her classes and daily life. Her approach to belly dance also includes the study of yoga, mindfulness and creative visualization. Her style of teaching emphasizes conditioning over technique. A firm believer in cross-training, Amber supplements her study of belly dance with Ballet Beautiful, Bellyfit, and Essentrics.
